In The Voice Of a Holocaust Surviver
I was sitting down reading a book near my window and all of a sudden I heard a big army of soldiers. They were yelling, stomping down the street really loud. They were all dressed in black uniforms with big black boots and hats. I saw guns in their hands. They were running to each house on my block. They broke the windows and doors down, telling everyone to get out. I saw enough! I had to hurry and tell my mom, dad and sister that we have to hide before they get to us. I was so scared. They were banging on our door. We had to think fast. We have a german friend that we ran to to see if they would let us hide in their house. We made it. We're safe! For now. We heard the soldiers coming in our friends house. We hid in the basement. The soldiers asked if they had seen us because they saw us running, but couldnt keep us in sight. Our friends said no, but they asked to look anyway. So they did. We heard them getting closer and could almost see them. I was afraid they would see where we were hiding in a dark corner under the table. We stayed very quiet and didnt make a noise or breath. The soldiers finally left.
